The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Missouri grants wishes to children who are battling life-threatening medical conditions. Born in 1980, when a group of caring individuals helped a young boy fulfill his Wish to be a police officer, the national Make-A-Wish-Foundation® is now the largest wish granting organization in the world with 66 U.S. chapters that have granted more than 167,000 Wishes since inception. Since 1983, more than 3,850 Wishes have been granted to children in Missouri…most of who continue to thrive. A Wish provides a child with an opportunity to think of happy things and escape into a world where wishes come true. It gives the Wish Family a break from the stress of medical appointments, hospitals, and treatments. It reassures the child that there is a whole community of people who care about his or her welfare. Most importantly, it lets a child know that anything is possible…even the future.
